The Cruise Itinerary:

Discover stunning beaches and coves as you hop off in Patmos. Visit one of the 365 churches and shrines tucked among its swooping hills and valleys, and see what makes this town so charming. Disembark in one of the Middle East’s most picturesque cities, Haifa, and take a short trip to holy sites such as Galilee, Nazareth or Jerusalem. Grasp the beauty of the city as you witness the views from Baha'i Gardens. Stroll along whitewashed villages clinging to the sides of the sea cliffs of Santorini. Come aboard Norwegian Pearl and fall enamored with the world’s most majestic spots.

October 24, 2021 - Embark the Pearl in Athens (Piraeus), Greece 5:00 pm Departure

This is the cradle of civilization, the oldest city in Europe. Not only is this city home to the Acropolis and some of the most important architectural structures and archaeological finds in the Western world, It is also a very modern city, an urban amalgam of extraordinary art, culture, cuisine and shopping.

October 25, 2021 - Kusadasi, Turkey

Take a journey into the past in richly historic Ephesus. Once an ancient Greek city, Kusadasi was known for the famed Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Built, destroyed, and rebuilt again through several notably historical periods, Ephesus boasts abounding ruins and archaeological excavation sites. View what remains of the Roman Library of Celsus, the Gate of Augustus, the Tomb of John the Apostle, and the Basilica of St. John, among several other ancient remnants.

Patmos, Greece

Patmos boasts idyllic beaches and swimming coves and enviable historic hilltop mansions, as it is a favorite hideaway for the elite. Though many are drawn to Patmos for its natural beauty and seclusion, the island is also famous for being the site of where the Apostle John is said to have written The Book of Revelations. From visiting the Monastery of the Apocalypse (which includes a chapel over the cave where St. John lived and received his revelation) to sunbathing on pebbled beaches and strolling picturesque villages, exploring Patmos promises to be a relaxing and memorable day in the Mediterranean.

October 26, 2021 - Day at Sea + Conference

Enjoy your day on board the Pearl. We will have our conference today.

October 27, 2021 - Ashdod, Israel

Dating back to 17th-century BC, Ashdod is one of the most ancient cities in the world. It's almost hard to believe when looking at today's modern port with its wide boulevards and meticulous planning. Don't miss the Ashdod Art Museum, Corinne Maman Museum, Beit Guvrin National Park and the pastoral setting of Tel Lachish.

October 28, 2021 - Haifa, Israel

Considered one of the Middle East's most picturesque cities, Haifa offers incredible sights everywhere you turn. It is also close to holy sites - travel to Galilee, Nazareth or Jerusalem. The views from Bahai Gardens on Mount Carmel, the largest hanging gardens in the world, are incredible, and make for a superb picture spot. Peruse the boutiques on Massada Street or go to the artists' village of Ein Hod for hand-blown glass and crafts.

October 29, 2021 - Limassol, Cyprus

A strategic garrison for Richard the Lionhearted during the Third Crusade, Limassol provides many archaeological sites, as well as an array of contemporary designer shops for exploring. The island of Cyprus is also home to two ancient kingdoms - Kourion and Amathus.

October 30, 2021 - Santorini, Greece

Whitewashed villages clinging to the sides of the sea cliffs have made the volcanic island of Santorini one of the most widely photographed places in the world. The island's charm and subtle mystery have even made it a target of speculation as the location of the lost city of Atlantis.

October 31, 2021 - Disembark the Pearl in Athens (Piraeus), Greece 6:00 am Arrival

This is the cradle of civilization, the oldest city in Europe. Not only is this city home to the Acropolis and some of the most important architectural structures and archaeological finds in the Western world, It is also a very modern city, an urban amalgam of extraordinary art, culture, cuisine and shopping.

Welcome back to Athens!

Catch your flight or stay a while.

About The Speaker:

Fr. Tim Meier

Fr. Tim Meier, SJ, is currently the Full-Time Support Chaplain for the California Military Department at the California National Guard's Joint Force Headquarters in Sacramento. He has remained sober since September 1979 and has been active in giving retreats for people in 12-Step recovery programs for more than 25 years. His retreat ministry began in 1990 with an internship under the direction of Fr. Tom W in Oakland, California. Tim led, on average, ten recovery retreats per year around North America prior to joining the military in 2006 -- in his 50s, with no prior service. Since 2008 Fr. Tim has deployed overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Joint Guardian, and Operation Enduring Freedom (twice). During his combat deployment to Iraq in 2008 he had over 200 missions "outside the wire" -- without a weapon.
Tim earned post-secondary degrees in music and biology (Kalamazoo College); philosophy (Loyola, Chicago); immunology (Georgetown); theology and divinity (Weston Jesuit School of Theology), and molecular neurobiology (Stanford). His doctoral dissertation, in part, looked at aspects of traumatic brain injury. He has pursued further studies of traumatic stress injuries and diseases at Fort Sam Houston since joining the Army. In 1982, when he was almost 3 years sober, he spent the summer at the Vatican Astronomical Observatory in Castel Gandolfo, Italy where he identified over 700 late-type red giant stars near the center of our galaxy, and sang solo, a cappella, for His Holiness, Pope John Paul II during Mass in his private chapel. John Paul II was declared a saint in 2014.

Fr. Tim Meier recently retired as a Chaplain in the US Army and is a priest at a Parish in Los Angeles, Ca.
